In life & your career.
—“You are the master of your destiny. You can influence, direct and control your own environment. You can make your life what you want it to be.” – Napoleon Hill – Think and Grow Rich (great book by him) —
You have the choice to be whoever you strive to be — Do you remember the last time someone told you, you couldn’t do something? How did it make you feel? Did it make you want to work 10x harder to become who they said you couldn’t? Or did you let what they said dull your shine & make you think to yourself, “Wow maybe I can’t do this?”
Back in December, when I quit my job I was with for almost 6 years, I had people telling me left & right “are you sure this is what you want?” “Real estate is not as easy as you think” “Maybe just stay here & you’ll move up” and you wanna know what those words did to my motivation? I pushed stronger and harder to become who they said I couldn’t. I went through so much studying (which someone with ADHD, who hates school and doesn’t like sitting in place is very hard to do lol) I went & took those tests until I passed each one. I failed a couple times but I had everyone’s negative words driving me to keep going until I finally passed the national. I became, Allison Carlson, REALTOR! In July of 2022 I signed with Carolina One & guess what? Those people who doubted me are the ones who helped me on my way to the top.

After about 3 months in the business I was speaking to another local broker at an event. Telling them how long I’ve been in it, what I’ve learned & done so far, etc. & what they said to me changed the game for my career. “Wait you’ve already been in real-estate for 3 months and haven’t gotten a deal yet?” – I literally looked at them like they had 10 heads. No joke. After that I went back into launch class & brainstormed ways to find clients. I wasn’t going to let that opinion shape who I was.
I still hadn’t gotten any clients yet by the end of Launch in October (which is actually very common, unless you have someone who has waited for you to get your license or a big Sphere Of Influence) anyways, I had decided that I would start doing 3 Open Houses at-least every weekend. My first OH was honestly one that will go down in my autobiography lol I was so excited for it, I went and set up the day before. Good thing I did, I met my first client ever the day before even hosting it! The day of I had a bunch of groups come in & even got a couple other potential customers, I could turn into clients 🙂 & guess what? That first client of mine, we just closed in December on his First House & my first ever Closing!!!
Which I had in my first 6th months of being an agent & to say the least that’s pretty damn good. I had seasoned agents telling me “I didn’t even get my first closing until I was a year in” “You got them from an open house? No way! Congrats!” – I was the first out of my Launch class to have a closing & generated my very own Client from hard work & determination! – So that broker who told me it was sad I didn’t have any business yet, thank you for saying that. It made me work 10x harder to achieve my goals.
I absolutely love what I do. I get to build relationships with people, find their dream homes and be there every step of the way. I know Real Estate was right for me & I knew no one was going to stop me. Just remember that next time someone tries to tell you that you aren’t capable of something. You truly do have complete control of your life and who you want to become. The words of others that are negative should just motivate you even more and not let them tear you down.
Write down those words they said & memorize them, look at them and let them be the driver to your future!
