The path may not always be clear, but your gut is.

There is a moment that comes before every big life change where nothing is technically wrong, but something inside you quietly knows that the current chapter is coming to an end. You may still be going to work, living in the same place, and doing all the things you’ve always done, yet a subtle restlessness starts to appear.
It’s not panic and it’s not dissatisfaction in the obvious sense; it’s more like a gentle nudge from within that says there is more for you than this, even if you can’t quite see what that “more” looks like yet.
I see this all the time with people who are thinking about buying a home, changing careers, relocating, or simply wanting their lives to feel more aligned. They come into conversations with me carrying both excitement and uncertainty, often saying they don’t know exactly what they want yet. They worry that without a perfect plan, they shouldn’t be making any decisions at all. But the truth is, most people don’t arrive at a new season of life with clarity.
They arrive with a feeling. That feeling might be a desire for more stability, more freedom, more space, or more possibility. It might be a sense that the place they are no longer fits the life they’re ready to grow into. That feeling is not something to ignore….. it’s something to listen to.
We’re often taught that we should only move forward once everything feels safe, logical, and predictable, but real growth rarely works that way. Clarity doesn’t usually appear before you take action. It appears because you take action. When someone begins to explore new job opportunities, new cities, or new homes, they’re not locking themselves into a future yet. They’re giving themselves permission to imagine one.
That act of imagining is powerful. It opens the door to possibilities that you can’t access by staying exactly where you are.
I’ve seen it countless times in my life and others. Once you open that door from your comfort zone things start happening like never before. You open a world full of possibilities and opportunities from the universe and you will know when they appear.
This is especially true when it comes to where you live. A home is more than just a physical structure; it’s where your daily life unfolds. It’s where you wake up, where you rest, where you process your emotions, and where your future quietly takes shape. When you start to feel disconnected from your space, it’s often because you’ve changed, and your environment hasn’t caught up yet. That feeling of outgrowing a home can be bittersweet, especially if it holds memories, comfort, or familiarity. But it’s also a sign that you are moving forward in your life.
You could feel it in the way the kitchen once made you feel safe, now you are retreating to your room daily. In the way the couch & living room would be a sanctuary now it is nothing but a bed of sorrow. I see it show up in so many ways.
For first-time buyers, this can look like a desire for independence, stability, or a place that finally feels like your own. For people changing jobs or relocating, it can look like a pull toward new opportunities and a different way of living. For homeowners, it can show up as a quiet awareness that the house you once loved no longer supports who you are now. None of these experiences require you to have all the answers. They only ask that you be honest about what you’re feeling.
The environment you surround yourself will continue to change who you become. Once your body or intuition tells you something is off, follow it.
The next step doesn’t have to be a big leap. Sometimes it’s simply gathering information, running numbers, touring a few homes, or having a conversation about what might be possible. Those small actions create momentum, and momentum creates clarity. With each step you take, the picture becomes a little clearer, even if the whole path is still unfolding.
The small things you do daily to check of your list of growing will help your path become a little clearer each day.
If you’re standing in that in-between space right now. Not fully ready to leave, but no longer fully content to stay, know that you’re not lost. You’re in transition. That space is where growth begins. You don’t need to have your entire future mapped out to honor what you’re feeling today. You only need to be willing to take the next step, trusting that the rest will reveal itself as you go.
Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is simply listen to the part of you that knows there is something more waiting for you. And that is always enough to begin.
