Backwards? Maybe. But Only to Leap Forward. That is what I remind myself every time I feel like I am going backwards in life. Setbacks have to happen. It takes a great strength to understand the setback, and conquer it. I have had plenty of them in my lifetime. You probably have too. Just remember, each setback is just a leap ahead waiting to happen. ❤
There have been moments in my life that didn’t feel like detours, they felt like derailments. Off of the freaking train-tracks. Going full speed ahead in the dark. I have gotten to the highest of highs, to just fall off at the peak. When I look back on these setbacks, backwards steps, changes etc. I realize, they were all testing me. To see how I can come out stronger each time. Sometimes I swear, I was made to be tested and twisted. So I can help others get out of their feelings of being broken and beat by life!!
I’ve learned that life doesn’t always ask if you’re ready before it changes everything. One day, you’re building a future. The next day, you’re standing in the ashes of the plans you thought would last forever.
Divorce changed everything for me. Not just my last name or my mailing address lol but my identity, my rhythm, my entire sense of stability. I moved into a small apartment. I had quiet moments where the silence was louder than I wanted to admit.
And yet, through that unraveling, something new began to grow.
“Sometimes when things are falling apart, they may actually be falling into place.” — J. Lynn
I swear, at the lowest times this year, I thought I couldn’t ever get myself back up. Real estate is a great career, but not when you aren’t all in. It’s hard juggling life, part-time jobs, trying to prospect for clients and the stresses the bills bring. Commission jobs can be tricky if your mind isn’t in it. Also, if your mind is on another million things as well… As one of the greatest authors once said — and someone who knew rock bottom intimately.
“Rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life.” — J.K. Rowling
And I felt that. I feel that more than I would like to. But, it matters how your next steps will be and how you take them. You can either let the setbacks bring you down or let them be a reminder that growth is coming.
We have all been not not just knocked down, but flattened. Crawling through the depths of our own personal h***. Just remember you can crawl out of that hole. You aren’t stuck forever. I promise you the universe and god is always working in your favor. Whenever you feel like you are drowning, you aren’t the only one. Just keep a positive mindset through it all. Speak with gratitude and abundance. It will all workout.
That step back I once feared so much, It gave me the space to rebuild a life with deeper roots. It gave me clarity, courage, and an inner strength I never would’ve found if everything had stayed the same. We all need the change that makes us re-evaluate everything. It doesn’t make us weaker. It builds and molds us.
If you’re in that place of feeling lost, hurting, and unsure where the road leads, just know. I see you. I’ve been there. And I promise, you’re not going backwards. You’re being rerouted to something better. Something that I would call a rebirth! It’s time to shine babes! Hang on, it will be a fun ride!!!
And if no one’s told you lately — you’re doing better than you think.
xoxo, alli ❤
